Swag Bags & 1:1 Consultations

I wanted to make joining Powerful Presentations a no-brainer, so I'm including several bonuses for the action-takers who register by March 14.

And if you're not interested in this online course, just scroll down for all the usual goodies, like blog posts, dataviz news, and recommended resources.

Early Bird Bonus: Swag Bags

When you register for Powerful Presentations by March 14, 2026, you'll get a Swag Bag in the mail with a dataviz shirt, stickers, and buttons.

Here's Cathy, a past participant, in her carpe datum shirt from her Swag Bag:

You'll get stickers and buttons, too:

Early Bird Bonus: Two 1:1 Consultations with Me

When you register for Powerful Presentations by March 14, 2026, you'll also get two 1:1 consultations with me.

You'll get a 45-minute Zoom meeting after you finish 25% of the course lessons.

Then, you'll get another 45-minute meeting after you finish 50% of the lessons.

Past participants have said that these completion incentives help them stay motivated to keep learning.

During our 1:1 consultations, we can:

  • practice for your upcoming presentation;
  • work on your slidedeck or accompanying handout; or
  • solve any of your specific data analysis or dataviz headaches.

You can pick my brain about anything and everything. The time is yours!

Blog Post: Stop Using Tiny, Grainy Photos on Slides!

Here's the "before" version of a slide with tiny, grainy photos:

And this blog post shows several ways to modernize and professionalize the photos.

Blog Post: When Graphs Have Multiple Takeaway Messages

I anonymized the numbers in this graph.

In hindsight, I should've anonymized the topic (it's about gonorrhea, eek).

In this blog post, you'll learn an advanced presentation technique -- showing the graph piecemeal to match your speaking points.

DataViz News

  • March 9: Microsoft changed a TON of Copilot features just today. Here's a 2-minute video from Bill Jelen, a.k.a. "Mr Excel," outlining the key changes. Some of the changes are small, like we no longer have to turn on AutoSave or save the files to OneDrive/SharePoint to use Copilot. Others are bigger - no more Python inside Excel?!
  • March 14: The Global Excel Summit is hosting an entire day of free learning on Saturday, March 14! Register for the Community Day here.
  • May 19-20: As a keynote speaker for the Global Excel Summit in London, I get one free guest pass to the event. What are you doing May 19-20 in London?? Want the guest pass?? Reply and let me know. So far, about a dozen people are interested, so we'll create a raffle or giveaway of some sort.
