Need to create -- or improve -- slide templates for your company?

6-Module Workshop

Here's what you'll learn and do.

Slidedocs vs. Slidedecks

In the very first hours of class, you'll master critical presentation lingo: differentiating between slidedocs (standalone documents) and slidedecks (presentation slides).

Message

You'll practice 8 techniques for crafting a message that's tailored to your audience, like bucketizing your findings, writing the takeaway tweet in advance, incorporating action-oriented activities, and designing a visual framework.

Design

You'll apply your brand colors, fonts, photographs, and icons; you'll create color-coded divider slides; and follow my checklist of 15+ Ideas for Visuals to ensure that every slide has a powerful, accessible visual.

Storyboarding

You'll explain your complicated datasets one piece at a time. (Or, one slide at a time!)

Public Speaking & Tech Tips

You'll fine-tune 10 aspects of public speaking, like making "eye contact" with the webcam; using your hands to help explain the patterns in your data; and removing filler words (like, um, so). You'll also get a behind-the-scenes tour of my home studio.

Case Studies

Want ideas for applying these techniques to your own projects? You'll see case studies from previous course participants.

Slidedeck Templates

Outdated slide templates? (Or no templates at all?)

In Powerful Presentations, we'll also be making slidedeck templates for your org! With strong templates, all of your staff -- your brand-new intern, your too-technical accountants, and everyone in between -- can give better presentations.

Sure, you can hire a consultant for the big bucks. Customized templates with (1) your existing brand guidance, (2) "Big A Accessibility" formatting, and (3) sample graphs and diagrams from your workplace will range from $10,000 - 25,000 from design firms.

Big budget? Hire a consultant. Small budget? Send a few staff to class with me and make/update slidedeck templates yourself, with my step-by-step guidance.

Early Bird Bonuses

We've got special gifts for everyone who registers by this Friday, October 25:

  1. A 1-hr consultation with me about your slides, templates, dashboards, reports, etc. -- anything and everything you need help with! Earlier today, I consulted with a student about building an Excel calendar for tracking colorectal cancer screening deadlines. We worked on index-match formulas, nested if statements, and linked conditional formatting. You can purchase 1-hr consultations anytime for $500/hr, but it's more cost-effective to register for Powerful Presentations by Friday and get one as a gift.
  2. Swag Bag with dataviz shirt, stickers, buttons, etc. You can purchase shirts anytime for ~$25/each, but the Swag Bags are a special gift for the action-takers who register by Friday.

What Participants Are Saying

10,249+ participants from around the globe have already taken the leap into better reports, slideshows, dashboards, and infographics by participating in our online courses.

Here's how those researchers, evaluators, professors, and scientists are describing Powerful Presentations.

"I’ve just finished the Powerful Presentations course, and not only have my presentation skills and setup improved, but so have my slides. There are so many great tips and tricks I could highlight, but I will keep it to my three favorites: color coding, increasing readability, and storyboarding. The best part is, they don’t take that much extra time! These are simple changes that take your slidedecks to a new level and allow you to really impress your audience.” - Kelsey Waterson, Evaluator, Centerstone Research Institute
"A client asked me to report the results at their meeting and I used so many of your suggestions in the slidedeck, it was the most impressive PowerPoint I have ever made. But as the meeting progressed, they were running out of time, [but] luckily, I had also created a slidedoc and was able to share that document. I have never been so grateful that I had signed up for your class!" - Kristin Wright
"I registered for the course because although I have advanced graphic design skills, I still thought I could make more effective presentations by working through the course’s sequential lessons of message, design and delivery. The course was great!" - Elizabeth Dove, Professor, University of Montana
